Cómo nació Becas por Barra
Todo comenzó con una niña, Ángela, que no podía pagar la secundaria. Al descubrir que casi el 40 % de los jóvenes en la zona dejaban de estudiar por motivos económicos, Linda Bello-Ruiz y Wilf Brousseau decidieron ayudarla.
Luego se unió al grupo Dave Marshall y con el apoyo de amigos en Barra, el sueño creció: hoy Becas por Barra apoya a estudiantes de escasos recursos para que terminen la secundaria y sigan preparándose.
Gracias a donadores locales y extranjeros, cada año más jóvenes tienen la oportunidad de continuar sus estudios y construir un futuro mejor para ellos y para su comunidad.

Cada joven que forma parte de Becas por Barra representa una historia de esfuerzo, superación y esperanza.
Desde 2015, más de cuarenta estudiantes han tomado este camino, y la mayoría continúa hacia la universidad o una carrera profesional.
Su dedicación es la mejor prueba de que invertir en educación transforma vidas y comunidades.
Alberto Soy Alberto Valdovinos Pelayo, originario de Barra de Navidad. Estudio Derecho en el Centro Universitario de la Costa Sur y actualmente tengo un promedio destacado de 9.3. Vivo en Autlán con mi hermano, que también es estudiante, y los fines de semana regreso a Barra para ayudar en el negocio familiar. Formo parte del programa Becas Por Barra desde 2019, y ha sido fundamental en mi desarrollo académico y personal. He participado activamente en talleres y eventos comunitarios organizados por el programa, y sé lo importante que es estar presente en cada actividad, pues es una forma de dar el ejemplo a la gente de mi comunidad. Esta es mi manera de expresar el profundo agradecimiento que siento por el apoyo recibido, el cual considero clave para mi crecimiento y para el futuro de Barra de Navidad. I am Alberto Valdovinos Pelayo, originally from Barra de Navidad. I study law at the Centro Universitario de la Costa Sur and currently have an outstanding GPA of 9.3. I live in Autlán with my brother, who is also a student, and on weekends I return to Barra to help with the family business. I have been part of the Scholarships for Barra program since 2019, and it has been fundamental to my academic and personal development. I have actively participated in workshops and community events organized by the program, and I know how important it is to be present at each activity, as it is a way to set an example for the people in Barra. This is my way of expressing my deep gratitude for the support I have received, which I consider key to my growth and the future of Barra de Navidad.
Camila Me llamo Camila. Tengo 15 años. Estudio en el CECYTE. Mi promedio actual es de 10. No tengo hermanos. Solo vivo con mis padres. Mis planes para el futuro son: ser arquitecta, tener éxito y formar una familia. Me gusta jugar voleibol, escuchar música, ver películas y estar con mi familia y amigos. Nahomi Soy Nahomi Eliana Ochoa Garcia, tengo 16 años, tengo tres hermanos, vivo con mis papas y estoy agradecida con Becas Por Barra porque me ayudan en los gastos de mis estudios. Gracias a ello estamos creciendo más allá de nuestras expectativas. Mi materia favorita es Biología y mi pasatiempo favorito es dibujar. Y también quiero agradecer a las personas que organizan los talleres porque gracias a esos talleres han hecho reflexionar sobre mis planes a futuro y también hicieron conocer una parte de mi que yo no conocía. A mi me gustaría estudiar la universidad y ser ingeniera de software. My name is Nahomi Eliana Ochoa Garcia. I am 16 years old, I have three siblings and I live with my parents. I am grateful to Becas Por Barra because they help me with the costs of my schooling. Thanks to them, we are growing above our expectations. My favourite subject is Biology and my favourite hobby is drawing. Ronny Me llamo Ronny Gabriel Agruz Zamaro. Tengo 16 años de edad. Vivo en Barra de Navidad Estudio en la Prepa en Melaque. Mi promedio es 9.4. Me gusta el volleyball y la mayoría de deportes. Me gusta conocer cosas nuevas, aprender siempre con una actitud positiva. Me gusta la fotografía pero mi sueño es poder practicar odontología y poder ser medio cirujano dentista. My name is Ronny Gabriel Agruz Zamaro. I am 16 years old and study at the Prepa in Melque. My average is 9.4. I live in Barra de Navidad. I love volleyball and many other sports. I like to learn new things always with a positive attitude. I like photography but what I would love to do will be to study odontology or to be a dental surgeon. Luis Ángel Soy Luis Angel Zepeta Osorio y tengo 18 años. Mi promedio es 9.8. Vivo con mi papá y mi mamá en Barra de Navidad. Estudio actualmente en el CECYTEJ en Jaluco y una de mis materias favoritas son calculo integral, inglés y taller de enovendimiento. Voy a pasar a sexto semestre y pienso seguir estudiando porque quiero estudiar ingeneria en industria alimentaria y poder apoyar a Becas Por Barra para que más jóvenes tengan la oportunidad de seguir estudiando. I am currently studying at CECYTEJ in Jaluco and one of my favourite subjects is integral calculus, English and workshop. I am going to go on to sixth semester and I want to continue studying Industrial Food Engineering and be able to support Becas Por Barra in order for more students to have the opportunity to continue studying.
Regina Mi nombre es Regina Celeste Rivera Barajas. Vivo en Barra de Navidad con mis papás y mi hermano. Estudio en la Universidad de Guadalajara Preparatoria Regional de Cihuatlán modulo San Patricio Melaque. Me gustaría estudiar Comercio Internacional. Mi materia favorita de la prepa es Arte y un poco también Física. Estoy muy agradecida con Becas Por Barra por esta gran ayuda y oportunidad. En lo personal yo creo que tengo buenas calificaciones - tengo un promedio de 9-10. Me gusta mucho estudiar, bailar y pasar tiempo con mi familia. Diana Estudio en la Preparatoria de Melaque. Mi calificación actualmente es de 9.7. Actualmente ninguna materia es mi favorita, pero tengo una maestra que me cae muy bien y se llama Jenny. Tengo una bonita familia. Tengo 2 hermanos más pequeños que yo y vivo con mi papá y mi mamá en total somos 5. Mi razón por la que sigo estudiando es para sacar adelante a mi familia y quiero estudiar la universidad de Guadalajara. Quiero tener un título universitario. Y me gusta leer. Fabiola Hola mi nombre es Fabiola. Estudio en el CECYTEJ de Jaluco. Vivo con mi mamá, papá y mis dos hermanos. Yo soy la mayor. Me gustaría poder terminar mis estudios, ir a la universidad y estudiar contabilidad. Tengo 14 años. Me gusta hacer ejercicio, ver series coreanas. De vez en cuando leer, comprar ropa, cuidar a mi hermanito, ser responsable y me gustaría en un futuro ser una persona independiente.
