Becas por Barra is a non-profit volunteer organization. We believe the best way to give back to Barra de Navidad, Jalisco, is through the education of its youth. We are dedicated to providing opportunities that allow them to reach their full potential.
Every year, 4 out of 10 young people are unable to continue their studies. Not for lack of desire, but for lack of resources.
Although education is "free", the costs of registration, uniform, supplies, transportation and food close the doors of high school to them.
With a little support, you can help them fulfill that dream.
How does the Bar Scholarship program work?
How are they selected?
Each year, young people apply to the Scholarship Committee. Only five are chosen: those with genuine need, good grades, and a family willing to support them to the end. Each scholarship changes a life, a story, a future.
How are the funds distributed?
Each month, the scholarship recipients meet with our accountant to receive their stipend, which covers transportation and food. The rest—uniforms, books, and tuition—is paid directly to the schools. This way, every penny goes exactly where it should: to the future of these young people.
Process monitoring
Throughout the school year, students submit their report cards to the Por Barra Scholarship Student Counselor for review. Any problem areas are discussed with the student, and they are provided with the necessary support.
The program Works
Since December 2015, when Becas por barra began, it has received forty-three past and present students.
Of the twenty-seven students who have graduated to date, twenty-one have gone on to university or vocational training studies.
Some have already graduated from university and others from vocational training.
Each year, hardworking scholarship students will graduate from university.

With Gold Star sponsorship, one full year of studies for one student is covered.
